Ah, Halloween—the time of year when the trees leaves change color, pumpkin spice is everywhere (we mean, it’s everywhere), and ghost stories are told a plenty. Savannah is not at a loss for any of the above—especially when it comes to tales of ghosts and haunts. From family friendly options to famous, frightening tours, get in the festive spirit this year with some of our favorite ways to celebrate Halloween in Savannah. Take a Ghost Tour (or Two!) Nothing says “Halloween in Savannah” quite like one of our famous ghost tours—learn about the haunted streets, houses, and ghosts of one of the most haunted cities in America. Named one of the top 10 haunted tours in the world by Trip Advisor, taking a Blue Orb tour is sure to leave you spooked. Their tours are 18+ (trust us, this one’s bone-chilling—leave the kids at home!) and requires a reservation. Board the “Trolley of The Doomed” and hear stories of antebellum mansions, creepy graveyards and more on a Ghost and Gravestones tour. Stops include exclusive nighttime entry to Juliette Gordon Lowe’s (founder of the Girls Scouts of America) birthplace and Perkins and Sons Chandlery. See the Bonaventure Cemetery by day or night with a Shannon Scott tour. This popular cemetery (hello, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil) is always worth a visit, but particularly around this time a year. Scott’s tours are known for engaging storytelling and an extensive knowledge of haunted Savannah. Halloween Hike at Oatland Island Wildlife Center Looking for a fun Halloween event for the kiddos? Walk your little ghost down a friendly forest trail where they’ll receive goodies from dressed up animal characters. The event also includes face painting, crafts and concessions. The event is cash only and costumes are highly encouraged! Wag-O-Ween Calling all dog owners!
