Even with kids back in school and your vacation days depleted after summer, you can still find time for a little change of scenery to recharge your batteries. Pack a lunch, load up the car, and take a quick drive to any of these destinations for a weekend vacation as refreshing as it is doable.

Destination #1: Atlanta

Bright lights, big city: take a tourist’s view of metropolitan Atlanta. Learn everything there is to know about the America’s favorite soda at the World of Coca-Cola, take a look “behind the seas” at the Georgia Aquarium, and celebrate in the southeast’s favorite sport at the College Football Hall of Fame.

Destination #2: Hilton Head

In just the few hours it takes to drive to Hilton Head Island, you’ll be on the low country beach with warm sand under your feet. Sounds nice, right? Bring Fido with you for fall—after October 1, dogs are allowed on the beach any time!

Destination #3: Charleston

Destination #4: Jacksonville

Catch a Jacksonville Jaguars game with just a 2 hour drive from Savannah. Or if golf’s more your speed, head to Ponte Vedra Beach’s TPC Sawgrass golf course, headquarters of the PGA Tour.

Known as “Savannah’s Beach,” this beach getaway saves you on gas and offers plenty to explore! Kids will love the Marine Science Center and the Tybee Island Light Station—Georgia’s oldest, tallest lighthouse!
